Alison’s Slimming Disease

Alison wasn’t really fat but she insisted to everybody that she was overweight. She said she wanted to be slim so that boys would find her attractive. So she went on a very strict diet. She lost such a lot of weight that she began to look ill. Everyone told her how thin she was, but Alison still thought she was too fat. In fact, Alison was suffering from anorexia nervosa, the ‘slimming disease’. Friends tried to help, but Alison’s problem continued. In the end she was eating so little that her life was in danger. Alison was admitted to hospital. She was lucky. She received the best of treatment with the result that she has now made a full recovery.

The last Straw

Mahmut was a camel driver. He owned a beautiful camel called Yasemin but Mahmut was ….. 1 …… poor …. 1 …… he couldn’t afford to feed yasemin properly … 2 … she wasn’t guite as strong as other camels. One day a farmer asked Mahmut to take some straw to the market. Mahmut didn’t notice because Yasemin was a willing camel, she managed to study herself and Mahmut kept piling on the straw.

Then Mahmut flung that last handful of straw on to Yasemin’s back. It was finally too much. Her back broke. That was that, I’m afraid.
